About Mixxer Language Exchange

What is it?The Mixxer app was created by two students at Dickinson College and is designed to help you find a language partner for a language exchange.
A language partner is someone who helps you practice their native language in exchange for you helping them with yours.
For example, if you’re a native English speaker learning Spanish, the Mixxer will help you find and connect with a native Spanish speaker learning English.Once you’ve found some potential partners, you can message them on the Mixxer suggesting days and times to meet.
Most people use Skype, Zoom, or WhatsApp to speak, but the choice is up to you and your partner.
There are no “rules” for the exchange, but I would suggest practicing 30 minutes in each language.
The important thing is to be sure that each person is allowed equal time to practice. Finally, if you’re a native speaker of Spanish or Portuguese you may also receive invitations from our school and others to register to join us for an “event”.
An event is a way of connecting Mixxer users with students in a classroom.
If you’re a teacher with access to a computer lab and interested in organizing your own event, please contact me at [email protected].
How is this Free?
No ads?************************************************True.
It’s entirely free, there are no ads, and there is no paid version.
This app was created by our students and hosted by our school.
We use the app and the website (www.language-exchanges.org) to find partners for our own students as part of their language courses. What if I’m a beginner?************************************************A language exchange is usually 30 minutes of conversation in each language.
That’s going to be pretty tough if you’re an absolute beginner.
Though it’s possible sooner than you probably think.
Our students studying Japanese have their first exchange after two months of classes.
To help them, everyone writes down 25-30 conversation questions in advance.
If you’re worried about keeping the conversation going, I would suggest doing the same.Contact us*************************************************Please send your suggestions and comments to: [email protected] Follow us:Twitter: https://twitter.com/MixxerSiteFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MixxerSite/
