About Invasive Species ID Guide

About the Invasive Species ID GuideThis app is a companion to the printed Guide to the Naturalized and Invasive Plants of Southeast Asia.
The guide has been transformed into an app to make it accessible to users on their mobile device.
It will be available offline, meaning a user will not have to have an internet connection to browse the guide, only to update it.
Content can be browsed by plant type (e.g.
aquatic, tree, shrub) or common name.
A template SMS message can be found at the end of each factsheet which can be used to notify others of the location of a species. The main aim of this Identification Guide is to enable individuals to identify some of the naturalized and invasive alien plants in Southeast Asia and to learn more about their impacts and options for their management and control.
The plants described in this Guide are all naturalized and/or invasive in one or more of the countries in the region such as Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
It is by no means a complete Field Guide, only covering 55 introduced and problematic plant species.
These species are also not necessarily all of the worst ‘offenders’ but have been included based on some literature reviews and feedback from project partners and others.Donors and PartnersThis Guide is an output from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – Global Environment Facility (GEF) Project, ‘Removing Barriers to Invasive Species Management in Production and Protection Forests in SE Asia’ which was active in Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
