Its just an app with a widget that shows the current day of the year (Julian Day).
The app itself shows the current day and lets you see the other Julian Days of the year.
Its really simple.Its called GDay because technically we all use the Gregorian Calendar, not the Julian Calendar.
However, we still call the "day of the year" the Julian Day.
We should probably be calling it Gregorian Day, but that doesnt really roll off the tongue well.
Anyway, thats where the G comes from.
