It is a trade union organization that includes Jordanian writers in various fields of literature, including novels, poetry, stories, research, literary criticism, and others.
The Jordanian Writers Association was established in 1974, with the invitation, coordination and leadership of the writer, novelist and writer Salem Al-Nahhas, to be the house that gathers Jordanian writers and unites their efforts in highlighting Jordanian literature and giving it the necessary attention.
The first president of the Jordanian Writers Association was the writer Abd al-Rahim Omar.The League is a popular cultural institution with a democratic Arab character.
It is considered an independent body and has its own internal system.
It was established in Amman on May 19, 1974, and it is considered one of the most important active cultural civil organizations in Jordan.
It includes the most prominent writers and academics, some of whom won local and international awards.
The Association includes (924) male and female writers, who elect from among them, according to a democratic formula every two years, an administrative body consisting of (11) members, and they also elect a number of auxiliary internal committees.
