Watercolour Reference has been designed to assist watercolour artists and painters, either beginners or the more advanced. This app assists the artist in the choice of appropriate colours and shades by providing data on individual colour characteristics and suggesting colour mixes/combinations and tips for a variety of topics. The Paint Mixing simulation allows you to choose up to three colours and mix them together in varying quantities to produce an estimation of how they might mix in the real world.Watercolour Reference currently uses the watercolour portfolios of Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith. Colour Index Names and Numbers are provided for easy comparison with other manufacturers.Included with this app are suggested combinations for portrait and flower painting plus a general watercolour characteristics database.Additional categories can be purchased in-app.Features optimised layouts for both tablets and smartphones.- Minor facelift to the design- Uses Google Billing Library 3- Various bug/crash fixes

The killer function of this handy app is a color previewing page that mixes 2 or 3 pigments by percentages. The result can be diluted with a percentage of water (dilute 1 pigment by choosing 2 and reducing 1 to 0%). Pigments are selected primarily from the W&N Artists line, with a few thrown in from Daniel Smith Extra Fine. A "Color Mix" section recommends base colors to use for various subjects. The app comes with Flowers, Portraits and General; you can buy additional subjects for $0.99 each on Google Play. The subjects are broken down into elements and further sub-divided into characteristics, for which colors are suggested. For example, Portraits > Hair > Auburn = W&N Burnt Sienna and French Ultramarine. Clicking on colors lets you order them from Amazon. There is also a Painting Tips section in which the author has packed a lot of information about painting and watercolors. It's like a whole watercolor book conveniently on your Android.

Nice learning app

AMAZING watercolor reference tool for those who need help with color mixing as you can combine up to three pigments using percentages and view the result.

Very good app. It would be useful if the colours owned could be recorded to allow the categories containing the owned colours to be highlighted. Additionally the owned colours could appear first on the paint mixing tab colour selector.

Great app. The colour mixing option allows you to experiment by mixing colours to match observation whilst out and about which is great for getting your eye in. I purchased all the sections and I think this will be my most useful tool barring my painting supplies. Great painting tips for beginners and good reference for experienced painters. Wish you could select colours frim your own pallets as favourites.

Broken, crashes on moto g6

Takes a bit of work. Would be much more useful with search-by-name (ex: Hansa) and especially search-by-pigment number (ex: PY3). Would love to see a section on "granulating colours".
