Description

Movement Detection is an add-on app for Tasker or Locale, which lets you detect various types of motion, such as driving in a car, riding a bicycle, or walking - or when NOT doing any one of those things. You can make sure that your "Work" settings arent triggered until you have stopped driving, or enable Bluetooth & disable Wi-Fi while you are riding in a car.Please note: this is a plug-in. You MUST have either Locale or Tasker installed for this to work. It is built as a plug-in for either of these, and will never function on its own. If you dont understand what Locale or Tasker are, then please do not install this plug-in. Please do not accuse me of scamming or misleading; Ive made this as clear as I know how.Detected movements: in a moving vehicle, on a bicycle, walking/running, and standing still (i.e., not doing any of those other movements).Tasker Users: To use: go to Profiles, and add a "State" condition. Within the pop-up that appears, you will see a button labeled "Plugin." Tap that, and you will see "Movement Detection."Technical Note: If the Location Mode is set to "Device Only", Movement Detection will not work. "High Accuracy" and "Battery Saving", however, will work fine.This is a complete re-write of the plug-in. Currently the plugin is very slow to react to movement changes. This could be an issue more with Google's detection algorithms, but I am not certain. I am using this with Tasker and setup a profile to start recording to MyTracks when I am out for a walk. I walked for about 15 minutes before it began recording. And it stopped recording about 5 minutes after I had stopped. Not an ideal solution to trigger various tasks when a certain type of movement is detected since it is too slow. I will keep this installed and see how it improves, and update my review as needed.

I had an impressively over complicated way of doing this in tasker, you thankfully made it obsolete. Only issue is stop lights...they register a change. Small problem, I'm sure it will be resolved.

Another commenter mentioned that stoplights trigger a change. I say that's good! It's responsive, both for walking and driving. I suppose the ability to define a delay could be helpful.

I use it to automatically switch on Bluetooth when I'm in my car. For this automation I use AutoMagic, which supports Tasker plugins.
