The Eighth Continent is an interactive novel in which you are the storys hero!In a world devastated by a cataclysmic super-eruption, you must search for your lost family.  Who should you trust?  What dangers await you in the volcanic wasteland?Scavenge, fight, hack, and trade your way through a ruined world. Features: - A branching storyline; make crucial choices and live with the consequences. - Conditional choices, where your options may depend on the items in your inventory, your health or mental state, previously visited locations, your reputation with other characters, or even your wealth! - A card-based fighting mini-game. - A mini-game for hacking electronic locks. - A mini-game where you scavenge for precious goods. - Vendors to buy and sell. - A decryption mini-game to decode secret records. - An inventory of consumables and quest items for you to manage. - Over 700 pages. - Over 20 achievements. - An automatic bookmark save system.Suitable for adults and young adults alike, the book uses clean language throughout and contains mild fictional violence in the form of a card game.  Although a standalone story, The Eighth Continent is the first book of a trilogy; books two and three are already written, and will be released as apps soon. The app is designed for both phones and tablets, and works in both landscape and portrait orientations.(This is an ad-supported version of the paid app The Eighth Continent.)Special thanks to Matt Rix for his excellent Futile 2D library.1) Improved fight help text and added help text for dynamic options.2) Various typos and minor fixes.3) Vendor now update if the player consumes saleable items from their inventory.4) Vendor mini-games stay a minimum height to make help dialogs easier to read when the item list is short.

The ratings don't do this game justice! There isn't supposed to be that many graphics (which is where the low ratings come from). The game is a 5 star. Love how you can read it on one go. The story is absolutely stunning, love the MC. Additional: Love how you can save your game at any progress, and come back to that point by loading it, in addition to the auto saving. This way you can play through many choices without having to start the whole chapter.

I get the feeling the author wants to play God. I totally felt like I was being punished for making choices the author didn't like. There's a difference between consequences (Eg. If you are belligerent, some will be afraid and others want to fight you) and moralizing (Eg. Making a character trip if he chooses to ask about rewards instead of where his family is.) Also there are some obvious bugs, ie how if you choose karate you can still choose kickboxing, but somehow you can't choose street fighting any more. The engine is very well made though.

I loved it so much! The first time through I tried to do everything and went insane. When I tried the next time I was on edge trying to just survive

Too short

I've downloaded this game since 2016 but just started now in 2018, great experience. But I'm having an issue here, I forgot to turn off my data plan making ads suddenly appeared on my screen, causing me to skip some important texts and information in the game, and now I can't go back to read that information, I've tried creating new save slot to start the ENTIRE game from zero and alas, I made some error in my choice and can't get back to those information in my current state.

I found this game boring because there was very little game play and alot of reading sorry but I wanted a game not a book .

Love the game/gamebook/interactive adventure or whatever this is but I was wondering if y'all were going to ever plan on releasing combat cards as a standalone game. I'd even pay for it. Just a thought. 🀓
