Wake up to nature’s chorus with a bird alarm clock developed by Carnegie Museum of Natural History and The Innovation Studio. This artfully designed app is a calming, nature-inspired alternative to your usual blaring alarm. When the alarm goes off, birds create a chorus of song. Choose from 20 birds to create a custom alarm. All of the birds are native to the northeastern United States, and users can hear their calls and learn more about them on information cards developed with museum scientists.Carnegie Museum of Natural History is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. The museum is an active research institution with an environmental research center in Rector, Pennsylvania called Powdermill Nature Reserve. The birds in this app were studied at the museum, are often banded at Powdermill, or are frequently impacted by window collisions—a phenomenon that the museum helps study and prevent as part of BirdSafe Pittsburgh. The Innovation Studio is the design, development, and workflow laboratory at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, where it supports a culture of innovation throughout the museums.Dawn Chorus update for Android!Features an improved alarm which works without the use of notifications. Now, Dawn Chorus will open and your bird songs will layer and blend into a beautiful chorus. This update introduces two additional alarm settings:- Schedule alarms to repeat- Label alarms

Why not update to include western birds, too?

It's so useless 👎👎👎

This brings me an absolute amount of joy. Thank you for creating this app.

it's lovely, but wouldn't turn off today. had to restart my phone. Are there any plans to do British birds version? Would love that.

Love this App! Creating different alarms using bird songs is fun! Great for learning and identifying bird calls. Interface easy to use and understand. Would love to see more birds as a in app download or some how unlockable.

pretty good. could use greater species variety and the song sparrow call is quite different from those we get around here.

This app makes it possible to wake on time without waking my husband & young child. Rather than using the snooze function, I have multiple alarms progressing from gentle songbirds to insistent blue jays & woodpeckers. Love it! Two issues, though. First, the app will keep your screen from sleeping if it's active on top. It would be better if the screen timed out per the device's default settings. Also, sometimes a bird keeps singing after I stop an alarm. Fully quitting the app takes care of it.
