Unlike the original, this game is very linear. I thought I was making choices, but it turns out all the dreams were set in stone from the start. There is not much value in replayability (easily finished in 2hrs) and the ending is rather bleak. It does not have the same introspective charm of the original, and one may argue that the ending is rather regressive in terms of character development. The start is abrupt, and Es was difficult to recognize given the art. It's rather disappointing.

I really like the narrative in this game although it is pretty short I did enjoy the story. However the "gameplay" does make the experience as a whole a little less enjoyable. Yes it is worth it to get passed the books and the mini games definitely. But I just feel like the game could've gone without so much tapping on text bubbles. Still highly recommend

I bought this after completing everything in the original Alter Ego. Truthfully, I think that Complex may have been more impactful as a visual novel without mini game or clicking mechanics, as the mini games feel very clunky and the pacing is very slow... I didn't feel that this was a problem in the original. It is also extremely short for the pricing and didn't feel particularly satisfying in either gameplay or expanding original story.
