Despite the many years in which Aviv led the kitchens of some of the most respected chef restaurants in the country, the smells of the dishes carried from the windows of the houses in his childhood neighborhood, Katamon in Jerusalem, remained with him.
"When my dearest mother would call me from the window to come home because lunch was being served, I would run from the soccer field, immediately leave the game with my friends, and the smells of the neighbors' cooking would accompany me all the way, all the way to the dining table in my mother's kitchen, the best cook of all.
