About this app

Pierce Transit Runner makes it easier than ever to ride transit in Pierce County — with one simple smartphone app and just a few taps, book a ride within our Runner zones wherever the bus can’t take you. To provide the fastest service, we may pair you with others headed in a similar direction.

HOW IT WORKS:
- Download the app and create an account.
- Get picked up and dropped off where you want.
- Share your ride with others.
- Save cash and time.

What we’re about:

CONVENIENT
Use your phone to tell Pierce Transit Runner where you are and where you want to go. We’ll take you there. To provide faster service, you’ll be paired with others heading in a similar direction.

FAST
It just takes a minute to book your ride! The app will send you an approximate arrival time for your Pierce Transit Runner vehicle.

AFFORDABLE
Pierce Transit Runner costs the same as a bus trip, and daily and 30-day passes are accepted. Pay your fare using ORCA, Transit app on your smartphone, or a paper pass. To pay using cash, visit one of the many ORCA retail locations or vending machines to convert your cash to E-Purse value. For more information on buying or using an ORCA card, visit myorca.com.

SUSTAINABLE.
Sharing rides reduces the number of vehicles on the roads, bringing down congestion and CO2 emissions. You can even double up your green cred by connecting with other public transit services. With a couple of taps, you get to do your part to make your city a little bit greener and cleaner, every time you ride.

Service area errors all the time or they just gut the service without telling you, who can say. There's no communication between what the "PT Runner" service does or offers anymore. It's amazing really. You can sometimes "trick" the app to pick you up but honestly I don't think it works anymore.

I've been trying to be active regarding the PT Runner since April of this year due to service changes during the weekends since I'm traveling from University Place to Puyallup to get to work in the morning. In the afternoon, it has never been an issue. Recently, it won't let me get from Downtown Tacoma to my destination, even if I'm using the Transit app, forcing me to order a $30+ Lyft. I shouldn't have to give an arm and a leg just to get to where I need to go. Fix this, Pierce Transit.

hit-or-miss service, horrendous app. every time i open it i have to do so 5-15 times because it crashes repeatedly and then eventually stays open. the pickup times are basically meaningless; sometimes it says pickup in 15 and they show up in 10 and other times it says pickup in 15 and i wait for 40 minutes and it still says pickup in 15. most of the drivers who actually pick me up are very friendly, but it's extremely unreliable.
