“Triage Marche” is an application aimed at the triage nurse, created with the aim of supporting the operator in every phase of the process for assigning the priority code. It is a tool that facilitates the consultation of the protocols and in no way can or must influence the final decision which belongs exclusively to the triagist.
The triage decision is the final stage of a process based on a myriad of factors, ending with the assignment of the priority code. During the various phases of the process (1. Assessment on the door; 2. Subjective assessment; 3. Objective assessment; 4. Triage decision; 5. Reassessment) an infinite series of data are collected and processed which, added to the nurse's experience, and the resources made available by the operational unit, contribute to the assignment of a code, which expresses the risk of evolution of the main symptom. It follows that this activity is a moment of maximum autonomy for the triage nurse and that no software and no algorithm can replace the operator. It is important to specify that, under no circumstances, can this application be used to resolve disputes and disputes regarding the attribution of the code.
"Triage Marche" is only a valid tool for consulting flow charts and for comparing vital parameters, especially useful in children, as the threshold beyond which the parameters are defined as dangerous varies considerably based on age, and remembering all the tables is practically impossible.
Furthermore, it should be underlined that nowhere in the application is there the possibility of introducing, voluntarily or involuntarily, one's personal data or that of the patient. This application does not collect or store any data.
Finally, it must be highlighted that each emergency operating unit has Triage protocols, developed by an interdisciplinary group (expert doctors and nurses), approved by the medical and nursing manager of the service and adequately disseminated and shared by all the professionals involved. "Emergency Triage" is an application created on the basis of the - "Marche Region Manual for Intra-Hospital Triage" - and borrowing the table of vital parameters from the - "Regional Manual of Intra-Hospital Triage Lazio Model" - whose values reference identified for the determination of the priority code are the result of the comparison between the most widespread international triage systems (ATS, CTAS, Manchester, ESI, French) and of the sector literature, of the experience gained over the course of approximately 12 years of application of the Lazio model triage and the consensus of the panel of experts of the regional working group.
